I have been looking at things at different angles the past few days. I have decided that I cannot give up jewelry, but I can use materials that cost me less to carry inventory of. I am excited and thrilled. Time and insightful friends and family who are open and honest about what they see helps me tremendously.

I have to chuckle at this post (in a good way!) because I can relate to your need to "simplify" yet, at the same time, it is soooooooooo difficult to give up the things we enjoy!

I've been wanting to add handmade journals to my Etsy, but haven't because in order to make them as special as possible, they take time and I'm afraid that I can't charge what they worth in time and materials. Oh, but I want to do it anyway! Never mind that I don't have the time to take on yet another project!

Today I went to the art supply store to price out canvases for an upcoming show. I hung out in the paper section for awhile...but you'd be proud of me because, although I took my time enjoying the supplies, I made the healthy decision to wait until after the paintings for my show are done. I'm glad I decided to do that. Otherwise the supplies would have ended up gathering dust in my studio anyway. This way, when I'm ready, I can go buy the stuff and start creating right away!

I think there is an art to balancing our passions in life. A never ending art. Gotta love it, though. It is what keeps the energy ALIVE! :)

Your jewelery, btw, is beautiful and I'm glad that you're continuing to create it. It's cool that your artwork can be worn. That way it is a constant reminder to be aware of whatever it is the images spark.

sorry for the long comment. couldn't help it!

love,
j.
